Started by Benji and Tracy Seckler, parents of seven-year-old Charley, Charley's Fund is a
nonprofit organization dedicated to funding cutting edge research for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
Boys with Duchenne appear healthy at birth, but slowly lose muscle function, becoming
wheelchair-bound by 8-12 and fully paralyzed in their teens. They eventually pass away in their
late teens to early twenties due to heart or respiratory failure. Despite being the number one
genetic killer of children, and the fact that research is poised for a cure, Duchenne research is
woefully underfunded by the government and pharmaceuticals. Because of it's almost nonexistent overhead,
Charley's Fund has contributed to the initiation of two clinical trials in Duchenne boys, and families
who live with this disease have hope for the first time. The deciding factor in whether this generation
of boys can be saved will be how quickly the research can be funded. Thank you for contributing to this effort.
