Individual Competitions
In addition to the Grand Prix Division Awards, this year we are adding individual race competitions.

Grand Prix Grab Bag
Look, it’s just before Christmas and we feel the need to give.  So, it’s time for us to clean out our Grand Prix vaults of shirts, New Balance gear and various give-aways.  

Here’s how it will work.  We’ll pick a number, and if that is the same as your race number, if the digits on your race number add up to that number, if your place of finish is equal to or divisible by that number, if your age is equal to that number, you get a chance to dig into the “grab bag”.

We have lots of stuff, but not enough for everyone, so let’s have some fun with this somewhat random opportunity to clean out the Super Jock n Jill Promotions office.

Club Challenge
As a sponsor and founding member of the Winter Grand Prix, Club Northwest would like to challenge other local clubs.  Using reverse cross country scoring, we’ll give 20 points to 1st, 18 to 2nd, 16 to 3rd, 14 to 4th, 12 to 5th, and 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 (everybody who represents a club gets a point).  Single race as well as series race participants can count for this.  Just write down your “club” affiliation on your finish card.  High score wins.  

You think youth can’t compete with the big (older) guys.  You know Federal Way TC will have plenty of kids and coaches out running, which might push them to the top based on participation points.  Get your club members and supporters out to the race and challenge to be the top Winter Grand Prix Club!

High School Alumni
Kids, parents, boosters and educators might all want to get involved for their school in this competition.  It’s a cross country race, so low score will win.  But, we’re going to add a twist using cross country scoring plus participation discounts.  Add up the place of finish for your top five finishers.  Then, subtract 1 point for each participant (participation discounts).  If you have a calculator, you can figure out that negative scores are possible with enough alumni support.    

Do you have eligibility?!  You bet!  If you run for a school, ran for a school, worked at a school, parented at a school, cheered for a school, add yourself to the team.  You’re an alumni today if you have any association with a school.  But, bring out the kids.  It’s really about them.  This competition is open to series and single-race entrants.  Just write down your alumni affiliation on your finish card.

The Horse Race
Race like the ponies!  If you want to bet your Grand Prix points on your performance, you can increase your earnings for the day.  Just bet on your race to beat the horses from our stable.  Do you want to risk it?  Do you want to bet on your race? Oh, as usual the top M/F receive a horseshoe today!  Betting procedures, risk and reward are being created.  Individual match race opportunities may also be offered.  Stay Tuned!

Track
Just run hard.  Keep making left turns.  We’ll have a prize for the top male and female in each heat.  

Heats will be set based on finish time.  Check in and sign up when you get to the track.

Feb 18    Time Handicapped Road Race (2mi)    Magnuson Pk
Time Handicap
Your start time will be based on your track race and previous road race  If you had a slower time, you get a head start!  If you’r= e fast, you start from scratch (last off the line).  This is an opportunity for someone new to lead the race.  See how long you can hold on before you get swallowed up by the pack.  If handicapped correctly, everyone should reach the finish line at the same time.  Single race entrants get to start at “scratch” and see who you can catch!

Join us immediately afterwards for food and awards (Location TBD).  Awards will be presented to our top three finishers in each age group, Love Handles division and High School Grand Prix Alumni.
